Jay Wilcox is a Bay Area professional live performer specializing in guitar and vocals. His music is rooted in the improvisational and storytelling traditions of the Grateful Dead, Jerry Garcia Band, Zero, and Bob Dylan, blending Americana, roots, and jam-band sensibilities with an emphasis on feel and connection.

 

Primarily a live performer, Jay has built his reputation on stage, treating each show as a unique shared experience. He has performed at iconic Bay Area venues such as Ashkenaz, Sweetwater Music Hall, and HopMonk Tavern, as well as festivals like Ain’t Necessarily Dead Fest and Mare Island Festival. His versatility extends beyond the Bay Area, including performances at the Alcazar Theatre in Carpinteria for Shakey Zimmerman and several performances in the foothills.
 

Jay collaborates widely, performing with bands including Lovin’ Dead, Wicked Messengers, 42 Degrees, Woodrat, See What Love Can Do, All Dead, Like a Rose, Volcano, and Turtle Dove, while also performing solo acoustic sets. 
 

 

 

While Jay has yet to release a full-length solo recording, his focus on live performance emphasizes authenticity, connection, and the energy of the moment. Always evolving, he continues to expand his reach, bringing heartfelt, improvisation-driven music to audiences across the Bay Area and beyond.
